  • Ventilator Care

Personal Touch Home Health Care Services Inc. accepts clients that not only show potential for ventilator weaning, but those that may need long-term nursing care.

Beginning with a careful assessment of a client’s respiratory function, a personalized ventilator care program is established and once in place, staff is proactive in preventing many complications commonly associated with ventilator care, including infection.

Nursing staff doesn’t function alone in ventilator care, but is part of an interdisciplinary team that includes the family, physicians, respiratory therapists and pulmonary specialists when needed.  Our 24/7 commitment to our ventilator clients, along with our 1:1 staff-to-client ratios and ongoing client evaluations, provide our clients with the maximum opportunity for comfort and safety.

Suffering from a brain, spinal cord or medically complex injury is challenging enough — but clients that are experiencing some level of respiratory failure and require ventilator care are faced with even greater difficulties.  Ventilator clients are not physiologically able to maintain spontaneous breathing.  Clients most likely to experience these problems are those with neuromuscular and central nervous system diseases, and spinal cord injuries and other medically complex conditions, such as cerebral vascular accident, myocardial infarction and multiple sclerosis.

Ventilator-dependent clients are at greater risk of developing infections because their respiratory systems are already compromised.  At Personal Touch Home Health Care Services Inc., the chance of infection is significantly lessened due to the training of staff in airway care.  Our staff is specifically selected upon hire for their experience in the proper administration of ventilator care.  Staff competencies are reviewed regularly and additional training is provided if medical industry standards or ventilator technologies have changed.  In addition, Personal Touch Home Health Care Services Inc. has received accreditation by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP) in Private Duty Nursing and has met the highest healthcare quality and safety standards
